Preparing for Trip

This list is provided to give you a general idea about what to pack:

General

  • Snacks (candy bars, trail mix, chips, etc.)
  • Driver’s license, Matches and lighter
  • Flashlight (with fresh batteries)
  • Small towel
  • Bug spray
  • Camera (don’t forget to charge your batteries)
  • Sunglasses
  • Prescription medication
  • Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, tissues, etc)
  • Passport
  • NO PISTOLS IN CANADA

Fishing

  • Fishing rods
  • Lures (jigs, spoons, etc)
  • Worms
  • Net
  • Lifejackets
  • Fishing licence (we carry them on-site but try to come with a valid one)
  • Rain gear
  • Cooler
  • Flashlights and Batteries for Evening Fishing
  • 1 gallon freezer bags to freeze fillets
  • Big net for big fish
  • Hook remover
  • Fishing hat / cap

Hunting

  • Fluorescent orange vest
  • Warm underwear
  • Long johns
  • Wool socks
  • Wool shirt or sweater
  • Hunting trousers
  • A pair of jeans
  • Warm windbreaker
  • 2-piece rain suit
  • Waterproof gloves
  • A good pair of boots (non-skid and waterproof)
  • Light shoes for the camp
  • Watch cap
  • Small nap sac
  • Firearms and munitions (with cleaning kit)
  • Hunting knife (with sharpening stone)
  • Spotting scope or binoculars
  • Compass
  • Camouflage hunting suits
  • Head net for the bugs
  • Orange vests & orange hat
  • Rifle – The Bigger the Better!
  • Each rifle must be in a case during transport. Don’t forget your bullets!!!
  • If you’re coming from another country, make sure your rifle is registered to cross the border
  • Rifles must be transported in a case
  • Old Hunting License or Hunter Safety Card
  • Head net and bug suit
  • Electrical Tape

Firearms:

You may bring your firearm(s) into Canada by following these simple steps:

  • Please review Canadian Firearms Forms
  • Fill out the form…but do not sign
  • Bring form to Canada customs at the border…you sign your form there and pay $25.00 Canadian funds.
    *Each hunter may bring up to three firearms with their form and $25.00 fee.

Some further details include:

  • Popular calibers are .30-06, .270, .338, and 7 mm.
  • All have sufficient power and range for our game.
  • Rifles should be sighted for 150-200 yards for moose.
  • Rifles should be sighted for 50-100 yards for black bears.
  • For transportation into Quebec, pack your rifle in a proper gun case which can be locked.
  • Your ammunition can also be stored in the hard case.
  • Don’t forget to bring a soft case.
